UPM Raflatac Unveils a Renewed Range of Label Stocks for Pharmaceutical Applications

UPM Raflatac announces the launch of a renewed range of label stock products for pharmaceutical applications in the Americas. This extensive portfolio includes special constructions developed for labeling small diameter containers, migration-safe and low-temperature compliant materials, cryopreservation-compatible products and options for end-uses where luminescence is required for missing label detection.

Narrow diameter labeling with RP360 adhesive

UPM Raflatac’s products featuring RP360 adhesive meet exacting industry requirements for compliance and change control while delivering exceptional performance on small surface areas. These label stocks provide secure adhesion on small-diameter glass and plastic substrates ? including test tubes as narrow as eight millimeters in diameter ? with no edge lifting. When paired with a thin polypropylene (PP) face stock, RP360 products can be run as single- or dual-layer labels, and they can be used as peel-back labels when a metallized second layer is employed. RP360 is also ideal for producing multi-wrap labels on extreme-mandrel substrates, such as very small PP and HDPE test tubes.

RP31 Purus ? A new standard in migration-safe adhesion

Pharmaceutical substances are typically in prolonged contact with their primary packaging, and the ongoing shift from glass to absorption-prone plastics like LDPE is requiring companies to take extra care in the selection of their label materials for both functionality and chemical safety. Because of this, UPM Raflatac has developed a range of products constructed with RP31 Purus, an innovative, high-performance adhesive that minimizes the risk of migration in medical, pharmaceutical and healthcare applications. These label stocks are pharmaceutically compliant (with documentation available upon request) and provide good mandrel performance.

RP80LT ? High functionality at low temperatures

UPM Raflatac has developed a unique product range based on RP80LT, an adhesive formulated to withstand storage condition temperatures as low as -112°F (-80°C). These label stocks also bring an innovative capability to a variety of applications, as they are able to endure up to 10 freeze-thaw cycles when samples are warmed at room temperature or in warm or iced water and later returned to the freezer. RP80LT products are ideal for a variety of surface types and applications, including glass, PP and small diameter containers, and the face stocks used are variable information printable and receptive to special pens designed to mark data in low temperatures.
