FEICA European Adhesives and Sealants Conference 2010 ? A Real Success!!
Brussels September 2010 ? 250 professionals of the Adhesive & Sealant Industry from around the
world gathered at the FEICA European Adhesives and Sealants Conference 2010 in Helsinki.
FEICA, the European Voice of the Adhesive & Sealant Manufacturers founded in 1972, is pleased
to say that this year the Conference was a real success for the Industry.
During the three-day conference, which was held on September 15th - 17th 2010, attendees and
speakers furthered their professional skills and networked. Some exhibitors were on hand at the
tabletop exhibition, demonstrating their latest products and services.
The FEICA General Assembly took place on September 15th. The key achievements of the last 12
months were presented. The assembly approved the 2011 budget and programme.
The Plenary Session opened the Conference with Geert Dancet from the European Chemicals
Agency, the English economist Roger Martin Fagg and the leadership expert Kjetil Sandermoen.
In parallel the Legislation Track featured topics on REACH and safety data sheets.
With 2 tracks in parallel on Thursday afternoon, plus a workshop on “Blue Ocean Strategy” given
by Mr Gabor George Burt, FEICA presented a wide programme to its members and all
stakeholders of our Industry. This year FEICA initiated a new track, with 5 reputable professors, as
an education platform to the research & technical community of our Industry with the Scientific
& Technology Track. The Green Market & Innovation Track reviewed the global market trends
for 2010-2012 in Europe, Asia and the USA and featured major topics on sustainability.
The programme highlight, the “Blue Ocean Strategy interactive workshop”, was a real success.
The Blue Ocean strategy is a systematic framework that transforms unconventional ideas into
such successful strategies. In addition, it enables companies of all sizes to pursue differentiation
and lower costs simultaneously, leading to new demand and uncontested, or “blue ocean”
market space.
On the Friday, the Business Forum theme was: “From Recession to Recovery”. A Panel of 7
reputable industry experts ? Wolfgang Heck, Giorgio Squinzi, Klaus Becker-Weimann, Hannes
Frank, Jürgen Wegner, Anders Silfverstrand, Christian Frey and Gabor George Burt ? presented
their perceptions of the recovery followed by a Q&A session.
The Conference 2010 closed with the keynote speech of Fabrice Roghé of Boston Consulting
Group Düsseldorf, with an interesting presentation on “Innovation Agility”.
The social events, included the gala dinner inviting the attendees to an island in front of the
Marina Conference Center and the welcome cocktail offered by the city of Helsinki in the old
town house: Bock House in the Empire Room, were among the many Conference highlights.
Next year the FEICA Conference will take place in Valencia ? Spain at Hotel Las Arenas
Balneario Resort GL on September 15th ? 16th 2011.
