Sasol has announced that it will participate in the 22nd China International Adhesives & Sealants Exhibition to be held from 18th to 20th September 2019 in Shanghai (Booth 5A200) and in the 14th China Adhesive and Tape Annual Conference that takes place in Shanghai right before the exhibition.
To produce hot melt adhesives (HMA) the supply of the raw materials in the formulation can be obtained from a variety of sources. These could even be sourced from suppliers across various continents. This gives rise to a range of alternatives that the HMA producer can consider for use in product formulations.
This material landscape has widened by the addition of new polyolefin polymer components, especially metallocene polyethylene (mPE). These new materials allow HMA producers to access a wide range of alternative raw materials, for which the optimum formulation needs to be obtained to ensure adhesive performance.
The availability of a range of Fischer-Tropsch (FT) hard waxes allows the HMA producer to formulate adhesive products using these alternative materials while maintaining the specified performance.
In this contribution Sasol will present recent studies that showcase the extent to which Sasol's FT hard waxes enable the HMA producer to maintain the freedom of formulation over a wide range of polymer materials.
Utilising the FT wax at the optimum level in the formulation, with the selected polymers, allows for choice in raw materials, while not compromising on the customer's performance requirements.
Sasol’s expert Johan de Jong will give a presentation on the topic “FT-wax in New Polyolefin Polymers for Packaging Hot-melt Adhesives” at the Conference on 15th – 17th September 2019 in the Longemont Hotel Shanghai.
